Review: Talisker "Storm" Single Malt Scotch Whisky

  1. I bought Dark Storm exclusive at Heathrow Duty Free area. I quite like it.

  2. Jason, Clever boy. Another new whiskey theme, nicely done. I like the Storm a bit. Its price is a bit too dear ($70 at Costco, closer to $80 most places US) for its ultra-polite personality. For me, it lacks the unique jagged charm and intensities that define Talisker. It's a smooth-y for the pipe and slippers set methinks, which is OK for some but I wonder if M would be having it at all. JK

    1. What I neglected to mention in my review is that between Talisker 10 and Storm, I still think the 10yrs is slightly superior as there is more complexity. But, if you and others are paying more for Storm, I think more than $10 is too much.

Storm is very interesting but the higher ABV will require people to experiment with water to get the right level for them and hopefully some complexity too.

  3. I'm a fan of the staple 10 year old. Nothing like being on Skye, surrounded by a vast assortment of Talisker bottles or the fine selection at the Stein Inn. Having a Talisker reminds me of those visits and the countdown till I return.

I'm surprised with all these new distilleries that no one has considered building another on the large isle that is Skye. Good review though Jason, dunno about the Bond impression!

    1. Yes, it is odd that there are not more distilleries on the Isle of Skye. Must be a cost factor that doesnt make it worth while or there are so many cheaper sites in other regions.
